A few burners need to be set to master to work properly with some systems. I know it says to be able to use the 16x, you need 80, but will the drive not work with 40? I've never heard of Daemon Tools causing this error before, but you might want to try uninstalling it and trying again. New cables and all is fine! If that also fails, it may be a bad burner. I am not going to take one side or the other in the debate, since as far as I can make out they are both as bad as each other, both
It makes all the difference in speed and throughput. That sounds like a hardware error, but what it is, I don't know.
